Hello SWAGGER Fam,

Today is about exposure and online vulnerability.

When it comes to digital communication, folks grapple with the fear of exposure and the challenge of maintaining online authenticity. I, for one can relate.

You know, that feeling of apprehension about revealing your personal thoughts or aspects of your life.

Believing folks are going to judge you, misunderstand you, or even ignore you.

Oftentimes, you experience these heart-thumping moments of truth – will they love it, will they hate it, or will it fall flat?

I wonder, are you really asking, will they love me, will they hate me, or will I fall flat?

Confronting this fear of exposure and vulnerability when communicating online is no easy feat.

All I’m saying is, “You get to choose how much of YOU to expose.”

You decide how vulnerable you want to be.

You decide the level of your online authenticity.

Let Me Ask You

When was the last time you stopped yourself from sharing a piece of your story online? Worried about what others might say or think? How did it feel to push that part of you into the shadows?

Have you ever paused, felt that jittery sensation in your stomach, cursor hovering over the ‘post’ or ‘send’ button, heart racing with the thought of what others might say?

These moments, my friend, of social media anxiety, call for bravery.

Be brave and watch your faith in emotional exposure online grow.

Actionable Tip

Here's the B.R.A.V.E. Method to help guide your journey:

  1. Believe in your message. Your voice matters.
  2. Reflect on the positive impact your sharing will have on your personal growth online and on others.
  3. Acknowledge your fear of exposure and online vulnerability, you are in control.
  4. Venture out of your comfort zone, gradually, step by step.
  5. Embrace the Lovable You. What you believe about You matters.

Until then, I leave you with a quote from Sonya Parker – “Don’t let the fear of being judged, rejected, or disliked stop you from being yourself."
